  1. Rosie Ruiz ran the 1980 Boston Marathon. After the starting pistol, she dashed to the nearest subway station and rode to the finish line. She crossed first and won. Eight days later she was stripped of the medal (It took eight days to figure out nobody saw her anywhere along the course? Not a single photograph?) You know it wasn’t New York if the trains were running on time. Rosie passed away at 66 last year. She was still averse to physical fitness. Strange but true.
