  1. What do you think is the biggest mistake?
1st – Low elbow arm stroke

2nd – Arm stroke while breathing

3rd – Lifting head for taking a breath

  2. Great video. I think I have a pretty good catch but need some work on my kick. Just getting back into it at age 65 and I am already feeling better. I subbed for ga.

  3. А можно технику Фелпса прокомментировать и "разложить"? Он вроде как левой захват начинает чуть позже, после завершения вдоха, а правую включает сразу после завершения толчка левой почти одновременно с проносом левой. Или мне показалось?

  4. These are not mistakes!

But the beginner need more practicing to get this right and good technique by time.

By the way! It's impossible to swim from first day as you think as a professional even if you teach them the right technique!

  5. I swim to keep my weight and my blood pressure down. It does a good job so I stay with the program. I am 76 soon and so I am not likely to develop into another Phelps but as long as I am doing it I might as well make a small additional effort to do it right. So I watch your video and do what I can to imitate it. I make all the mistakes to one degree or another. I've been working on the dropped elbow and lifting head so that's getting better. I'll have to see how bad stroke while breathing is. Checking it out over the weekend.

  6. An alternative name for this video 'the exact way gordon swims, and why you should do it differently'. I can't wait to get to the pool to implement all of this. Great video. Subscribed.

  7. Extremely helpful video. My only suggestion is to split the screen into two videos, showing the mistake and correct technique side by side in slow motion.

  8. I'm not a swimmer but seems to me the guy demonstrating the techniques has a wrong left hand position right after the catch. He uses it as break 🙂 Pushing the palm of his hand forwards. At 0'52" you see it best. It's structural in his style. 😛
