  1. I love the videos. I’ve started learning free style with the help of these videos. I did not realize the stoke was so important and technical. I could not breath properly so I bought one of these a month ago before I saw this video, found it on amazon, and thought I’d give it a try. I absolutely love it. Sure easier than learning how to breath out the side. Allows me to concentrate on technique and endurance ( the main reason for my swimming) and not worry about drowning.😂😂😂. Tks for this video and the support it’s given.
By the way I also use goggles and a nose plug.

  2. I tried to use one, I couldn’t inhale without using my nose so it didn’t really work. I also had to overcome not turning my head when I wanted to inhale. You can race with a snorkel in a race with USAT rules.

  3. Swimming with snorkel for year or so now. Indeed improves body positioning and technique, but I suggest not to use it in every training because it could impact breathing so that it would be hard to swim without it.

  4. I'm so gutted. I bought a snorkel for practicing my stroke and then I got to my local pool and I'm not allowed to use it! It's the same for the national swimming centre in Stirling too! I'm so annoyed! I'm desperate to use my new toy! :'(

  5. I struggle with panic attacks when my face is in the water. With a snorkel I'm fine. {nose clip.} Not entering a triathlon any time soon, but like to watch GTN for tips and advice

  6. I use snorkel a lot when doing drills – working on my catch, balance, limb positions, sculling, etc.
    Two points though:
    1. Buy a snorkel with a valve in its lower part. So when you cough out water – the most of it will go through the valve, not through the top. And also, having a valve (and hence a little of tube below the mouthpiece) can deal with small accidential amounts of water (you won't even notice that).
    2. Personally, when I use snorkel my head position is not optimal. I may be looking, like 45 degrees in front, but not by my eyes, but with the whole head. When I try to position my head really neutrally, due to short tube some water goes into.
    Cheers!
