I love the videos. I’ve started learning free style with the help of these videos. I did not realize the stoke was so important and technical. I could not breath properly so I bought one of these a month ago before I saw this video, found it on amazon, and thought I’d give it a try. I absolutely love it. Sure easier than learning how to breath out the side. Allows me to concentrate on technique and endurance ( the main reason for my swimming) and not worry about drowning.😂😂😂. Tks for this video and the support it’s given. By the way I also use goggles and a nose plug.
I tried to use one, I couldn’t inhale without using my nose so it didn’t really work. I also had to overcome not turning my head when I wanted to inhale. You can race with a snorkel in a race with USAT rules.
Swimming with snorkel for year or so now. Indeed improves body positioning and technique, but I suggest not to use it in every training because it could impact breathing so that it would be hard to swim without it.
I'm so gutted. I bought a snorkel for practicing my stroke and then I got to my local pool and I'm not allowed to use it! It's the same for the national swimming centre in Stirling too! I'm so annoyed! I'm desperate to use my new toy! :'(
I struggle with panic attacks when my face is in the water. With a snorkel I'm fine. {nose clip.} Not entering a triathlon any time soon, but like to watch GTN for tips and advice
I use snorkel a lot when doing drills – working on my catch, balance, limb positions, sculling, etc. Two points though: 1. Buy a snorkel with a valve in its lower part. So when you cough out water – the most of it will go through the valve, not through the top. And also, having a valve (and hence a little of tube below the mouthpiece) can deal with small accidential amounts of water (you won't even notice that). 2. Personally, when I use snorkel my head position is not optimal. I may be looking, like 45 degrees in front, but not by my eyes, but with the whole head. When I try to position my head really neutrally, due to short tube some water goes into. Cheers!
Do you use a snorkel for your swim training? Leave us a comment!
Can you do a video on why triathletes should even worry about learning to do flip turns? We race in open water so why bother?
The front one are costly in south Africa but planed to use a side one this week.. As a tester.. Thanks for great shows
I always dream about having such flexible ankles.

Please attach a link for your snorkel. I don’t mind buying it please !
Just what I needed!! I bought a snorkel today lol 😂
I don’t know how you can use a snorkel without a nose plug, I tried once and it didn’t go well…the life guard looked over to see who was drowning😂

My pool wont let me use one
Any advice on being able to use a snorkel without nose clips??

I have had this laying around for a couple of years now. Maybe I should start using it and finaly learn to swim…
Bought one more than a year ago and still stays at home, never had the courage to try once 😖
How are those power breather snorkels, it claims you don't inhale the co2 back in that you exhale ?

Have a nice day Heather!!!

My local pool has just banned them. Possibly after seeing me swallow water. Wish I had seen this first! Thank you
Your hands are crossing over your center line near your belly, pull/push straight through you’ll go faster 😜
nice but it didn't answer the most tricky thing to manage with a snorkel: Water in the nose.
Are these Ironman legal? Will certainly eliminate my breathing issues 🙈
