  2. I have some concerns about this video and the description. You make no distinction between Type 1 Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes … two very different medical conditions.

    Type 1 Diabetes is a genetic autoimmune disease in which the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas are destroyed by the body’s own immune system. Without insulin the body essentially starves, and the person dies within a couple of weeks. Treatment involves insulin replacement therapy for life. There is no cure.

    Type 2 Diabetes is largely a lifestyle disease whereby the body becomes resistant to the insulin it produces. This takes place over many years and is caused mainly through poor diet, lack of exercise, and obesity (with a small genetic component). It can be reversed through changes in lifestyle and improved overall health.

    The pathophysiology and lived experience of these two diseases are completely different, and it is really important that a distinction is made between the two.
