  1. I've been in the military for almost 20 years. He's doing a pyramid counting style for push-ups. Normally when we did pyramid of push-ups during out PT sessions we'd do 1 PU, rest, then 2 PU, rest, 3 PU so and so forth. We might do sit-ups between sets or even crunches. If you have been doing push-ups for as long as I have at some point your body will build up a resistance or get use to it. It takes several hundred for me to even be sore the next day. Fun fact, 61% of body weight is being lift during a push-up.
